FLUORATION DE L’EAU POTABLE
LE MERCREDI 1er OCTOBRE 2014
BUTS ET OBJECTIFS
Bien éclairer la population sur les effets et les impacts de la fluoration de l’eau potable pour la
communauté de Richmond en prévision de la consultation populaire (référendum) qui aura lieu le19 octobre prochain sur la question.
Les arguments en faveur de la fluoration de même que ceux qui s’y opposent seront présentés par les différents groupes concernés, de même que les implications financières pour les citoyens selon l’option retenue, suite à la consultation populaire.
INVITÉS
1) Les représentants de la Santé publique aborderont notamment les points suivants:
- la fluoration, une mesure de prévention sécuritaire pour la santé et l’environnement;
- une mesure efficace et approuvée par plus de 90 associations et organismes
scientifiques de confiance;
- une mesure cohérente avec le rôle et les fonctions de la Santé publique.
2) Les représentants du Regroupement des citoyens et citoyennes pour une eau saine à
Richmond aborderont les points suivants:
- la nature des produits utilisés pour fluorer;
- des statistiques concernant la fluoration;
- ce qu’en pense la communauté scientifique;
- l’importance d’un consentement libre et éclairé des citoyens;
- d’autres solutions pour améliorer la santé dentaire de nos citoyens.
3) Les représentants de la Ville de Richmond présenteront:
- l’historique du dossier;
- les implications financières selon l’option retenue, soit le remboursement d’une
somme de 127 000 $ s’il y a arrêt de la fluoration;
- le déroulement de la consultation populaire qui se tiendra le 19 octobre 2014.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Inform the population on the effects and impacts of fluoridated drinking water for the community
of Richmond in anticipation of the popular consultation (referendum), which will take place on
October 19th, 2014.
Arguments in favour and against fluoridation will be presented by the various groups concerned.
The financial implication for citizens will also be discussed depending on the option chosen on
referendum day.
GUESTS
1) Representatives of the Public Health Department will address the following points:
- Fluoridation, a safe prevention measure for your health and the environment;
- An effective measure approved by over 90 associations and scientific organizations of
confidence ;
- A measure consistent with the role and functions of Public Health.
2) Representatives from ‘Regroupement des citoyens et citoyennes pour une eau saine à Richmond’
will address the following points:
- The nature of products used for fluorinating;
- Statistics on fluoridation;
- What the scientific community thinks;
- The importance of a free and informed consent of the citizens;
- Other solutions to improve citizen’s dental health.
3) The representative of the Ville de Richmond will present:
- The history of the subject;
- The financial implications according to the option chosen, being a sum of 127 000 $ to
be reimbursed if the fluoridation is stopped;
- The conduct of the popular consultation which will be held on October 19th, 2014.
